QUOTE|eating out with mamma

Today I went to Taco Del Mar with my mom.  It was her first time eating there.  When the guy taking her order asked, “What kind of meat would you like in your quesedilla?”

My mom replied, “Regular.”

Totally reminded me of the old “Different Strokes” tv show.

“What you talking about Willis!?”

It could be a risk to post this, you know, “man” pride and all.  But, it was too awesome to pass up.

VOICES|god is with the poor

I thought Bono had some great inspiring words for us all in this speech.

REPORT|the prayer seminar is “on the go!”

I just got done having a great time with some folks over at “The Father’s House” – a center for prayer here in the Seattle area – as part of our first session in a series on prayer!

We had a time of worship and we went through The Lord’s Prayer as…

…part teaching, we learned how to see the Lord’s prayer as a outline of all the aspects of prayer that are necessary for a prayer life to be a healthy one

…part practical application, meaning we actually prayed : ]

… and part “topics of intercession” to contend for God’s “house of prayer” to be raised up in the Church, or in other words, we prayed for God’s people to start praying!  The way and as much as God intended for us to pray!

The core of our time was focused on the belief that “The Lord’s Prayer” is not a bunch of words that you simply recite and then bam!  You’ve prayed. But rather, somewhat like a “nutritional food pyramid,” it outlines for us the necessary “food groups” of a balanced prayer “diet.”  If you want to have a great, healthy prayer life, then make sure each “prayer food group” is in your prayer life somewhere! [I’ll be posting a series covering what those “food groups” or, “areas of prayer” are.]

It’s been awesome to come across other churches and believers that see and practice The Lord’s Prayer like this.  I’ve had the chance to share this teaching on The Lord’s Prayer with different groups, like at my old church, Destiny City Church, and each time it’s been so fun to see people blessed, and hear them say things like, “This is so awesome!  I’ve never prayed through The Lord’s Prayer like this!”

I just want to add that most of this has come from the teaching and practice of prayer I was able to glean from my spiritual father, Pastor Shin Kim.  As part of the foundation of the then church plant, Jubilee Evangelical Church, we prayed through the Lord’s Prayer every night of the work week for years.  I know that myself and many others have come to know God in an amazingly deep, personal, and real way because of it!

I pray you will discover or re-discover The Lord’s Prayer and the life of prayer all to God’s glory!

See you out on the water!
