This is a very moving news coverage of a high school kid with autism who had a for real “cinderella night” on the basketball court.
Watch it! You’re going to love it.
Here it is! The first outtake episode from a collaboration project with some of my friends. This is the first time any of of us have ever done anything like this, and it was my first time doing video recording and editing. It’s been a great learning experience.
Hopefully, they’ll start getting better as we go along! And hopefully you’ll get a kick out of it anyways!
We wanted to share God’s love and good news in a creative way, so we tried out this idea of a sort of laid-back-talk-showish-coffee-talkish-but-really-actually-using-bottled-waterish type of feel.
Part 2 of this recording is about dealing with fear and will be posted up next time. So keep checking back for the next episode!!

In honor of MLK day I’ve post a video in the “featured video” section [to the right] that is a small clip of my favorite MLK quote.
This was his last sermon. He gave it the night before he was assassinated. What always gets me is the sense of unwavering, unflagging hope and determination in his voice and in his eyes.
And it’s not just because this was the night before he was assassinated that the hope is so meaningful, it is in fact that because he does take into account in his message that there are great difficulties to be faced and that he “may not get there” with those listening to him that night.
It was like he stood toe-to-toe with death and did not flinch in the absolute faith of the worthiness of the cause he felt was God’s will.
I hope to be like him someday.

Here are some more MLK quotes:
“When our days become dreary with low hovering clouds of despair, and when our nights become darker than a thousand midnights, let us remember that there is a creative force in this universe, working to pull down the gigantic mountains of evil, a power that is able to make a way out of no way and transform dark yesterdays into bright tomorrows. Let us realize the arc of the moral universe is long but it bends toward justice.”
“Men often hate each other because they fear each other; they fear each other because they don’t know each other; they don’t know each other because they can not communicate; they can not communicate because they are separated.”
“So the question is not whether we will be extremists, but what kind of extremists will we be. Will we be extremists for hate or for love? Will we be extremists for the preservation of injustice or for the extension of justice?”
“Everybody can be great, because everybody can serve. You don’t have to have a college degree to serve. You don’t have to make your subject and verb agree to serve. You don’t have to know Plato and Aristotle to serve. You don’t have to know Einstein’s ‘Theory of Relativity’ to serve. You don’t have to know the Second Theory of Thermal Dynamics in Physics to serve. You only need a heart full of grace, a soul generated by love, and you can be that servant.”
“I believe that unarmed truth and unconditional love will have the final word in reality. That is why right, temporarily defeated, is stronger than evil triumphant.”

This thing is amazing. It can actually withstand ROCKETS being shot at it. Looks like myself and the rest of world are one step closer to the realization of my childhood dream that every household and child in the U.S. would own a K.I.T.T. from Knight Rider. It’s our God-given American right I tell you.
Back to the “Obamamobile.”
It would seem that the engineers have thought of everything. As I mentioned already, it’s freaking rocket proof. That, and it also…
+ Has a gas tank that can withstand direct hits and not explode…reassuring.
+ Has kevlar-reinforced, puncture and shred resistant tires…not too shabby.
+ Carries pints of blood for Obama…very thoughtful.
+ Comes equipped with tear gas cannons and pump action shotguns in the doors…nice touch
Those are all nice things and all, and though I think this car IS cool, I do think there is room for improvements.
+ According to this article, the only window in the whole car that opens is the drivers, and even then it only open three inches. For some reason, a great need for an emergency ejection seat comes to mind. But nope, it doesn’t have one.
+ The Obamamobile only goes 60mph. Which is understandable, considering all the weight of the armor and the cool pump action shotguns
+ It only gets 8 miles per gallon. Which, again is understandable for all the reasons it can only go 60mph.
So…putting all these shortcoming together…
You’re telling me if I try to blow-out the tires, shoot bullets and rockets at this thing, I won’t put a dent in this car. But, on the other hand, a diabolical fiend could easily chase down the President of the United States in a Ford Escort?
In the words of my friend Tim…
“What the shizz?”
And seriously, what? No cloaking device? Pssh. C’mon man, even MY car comes with a cloaking device…STANDARD.
I got it at a Romulan dealership for a great deal.
One of the names for Jesus is “Emmanuel” which means, “God with us.” I don’t think any other god has ever had a name like that, and if they did, they didn’t deserve it.
That’s a beautiful fact. Continue reading ‘BLOG|emmanuel, a beautiful fact’
So I was perusing the web for upcoming movies, and happened across this little bit of cool information!
I don’t know if I’m late to school on this one, but it looks like Captain America’s shield briefly appeared in last summer’s Iron Man movie!!
And you know what? This is what has me perplexed, when I read about it and then saw it, I had this weird feeling of utter awe come over me. Like I was looking at some sort of holy weapon of a mighty warrior long ago. Like seriously, no joke. Utter awe.
Yeah, I know, weird.
But, I guess just the legend and lore of Captain America as I grew up must have really stuck with me and just resonated once my eyes beheld the sacred shield.

I had the awesome privilege of speaking and ministering at a youth camp over in Wisconsin! It was with 180 Radical Reversal Ministry and it was a really awesome time! I’ve been working with this same ministry for a few years now, and I’m so enriched by the friendships that have developed over the years!
The theme for the retreat was “Abba Loves You” and I hope and pray that it was this message that was sown and imparted into the young people’s lives. They were such a great group to minister to! From day one you could tell that they were there because they WANTED to encounter God and love Him more! Such evidence of the love and dedication and faithfulness of the servant leaders that surround them.
The times of worship and prayer were awesome. The leaders and the youth even took time each night to pray from 12am to 2am as a “night watch” time to seek God’s face!!
More and more I am hopeful to see an army of love that will love their God, love one another, and love their world with unstoppable, unlimited, selfless abandon to the glory of God!
Again, I am so blessed to call these people my friends and to know that they are standing in the gap in the mid-west area of the United States and all over the world on their missions trips for the sake of the Good News to be preached with love, joy, and great power!
Hopefully, I’ll get to post more pictures on the website soon!
And wouldn’t you know it, the very first time I’ve had to write out the date in this new year – right there in the subject line – I pulled the “wrote last years” year. Dang it. I was going to erase it and correct myself, but I thought I’d come clean with y’all.
So well, it’s been a bit of a break since last I’ve blogged. In the mean time, I’ve victoriously survived the Seattle “snow-pocalypse”!
During the snow-pocalypse we had a very “movie” like scene menace our major freeway as two buses full of kids slid down a hill out of control nearly going off the side of a cliff. I felt like Peter Parker when I took these two pictures as I drove by the scene!
Thankfully, no one was hurt. The only real victim was that poor orange cone that I ran over while trying to get these shots.
No, no. I kid, I kid.
No orange cones were harmed in the making of this blog entry.
